Congratulations to the families that joined us on our hike up Bear Mountain, in the rain and fog! We were wet and some of us got a little cold, but we had lots of fun and a day to remember. A special “Bully” goes out to the parents who were brave enough to accompany their sons on a hike, which they probably wouldn’t have chosen to do by themselves! Thanks folks, you keep our Pack going…..through rain and fog and cold and…..
Scouting for Food
Thank you to everyone who brought non-perishable food items to the Halloween Pack night. We raised 36 items (34lbs) of food, which were taken to the Hempstead Food Pantry. We started thinking about what we could accomplish if we did this every month and decided that we should! So, please bring one non-perishable food item to the Pack night every month! We will provide boxes and will deliver the donations to area Pantries. This will be the beginning of our community outreach for the year. Let’s show Nassau County what Pack 204 can accomplish!
Once again this year, we will be volunteering to help set up, serve and clean up the annual Thanksgiving dinner sponsored by the Oceanside Interfaith Council at St. Anthony’s Church on Thursday November 27th. Volunteer scouts should arrive at St. Anthony’s at 10:00am and be prepared to work for a couple of hours. This is another great opportunity for Pack 204 to help others in need. Please consider volunteering while your dinner is cooking in the oven.
Yes it's really going to happen! On Friday November 22nd at 7:30pm, we will convert the School #3 gymnasium into a land of Medieval Festival. We will have renaissance games and contests and all boys should come wearing the costumes you have been making in the Den meetings. Caution: Swords will only be allowed as costume decorations. Anyone sword fighting will lose their sword.
Thanks to every boy (and parent) that sold popcorn for the Pack. Popcorn will be available for scouts to pick-up on Sunday Nov.16, after 3:00pm. Please plan to collect your orders on that date at 2605 Soper Ave. in Baldwin. We appreciate the support! Only 35% of our Scouts sold popcorn, so we will have a 60% decrease in our operating funds. We will need to have another fundraiser this year.
Blue and Gold Banquet
Our annual Blue and Gold Banquet will be held on February 8th, 2004 at St. Anthony’s Parish Hall. This is the formal awards ceremony that we hold half way through the year. We are looking for parents to volunteer to be on the planning committee and ask each Den to nominate one member (not the uniformed leader). This will involve about six meetings between now and February. Please consider helping the Pack in this short-term way. Thanks!
