OK, now you have all experienced a Pack night and you now have a better
understanding of the parental assistance we need to run an effective
meeting. We can plan the activity, and get up in front of the boys and try
to pull it off, but without your help it will not work. “What do they expect
me to do?” you ask yourself, I brought my son. Yes but we need you to talk
with him before the meeting. Explain that he must be quiet during the
talking times, and can run and have fun afterwards. Be a good role model and
confine your conversations to the lobby or the hall. Participate in the
silly songs, give your attention to the speaker or even………………… volunteer to
be a leader! It only takes an hour a week. This is especially true for those
who are new to our Pack. We have 45 new boys in a Pack of 100.
Halloween Party – Renaissance Faire
We have a theme for the Pack meeting on October 24th, “Once Upon A Time”.
We are encouraging the boys to come dressed as knights in shining armor. The
boys will be working on their costumes in the Den meetings; however they
will surely need some help at home finishing off the details. We will have
games and contests in the gym that night. Come in your own costume if you
like. We will certainly need some parents to help run the games
Bear Mountain – October 19th
Remember we will be hiking up Bear Mountain on Sunday October 19th.
We will meet at the Bear Mountain Inn at 10:00am and leave on the hike
shortly thereafter. So that we don’t leave before everyone has arrived,
please let your Den Leaders know if you are planning to attend so we will
know to expect you.

Battleship Trip – March 6th
We have over 105 people signed up for the USS Massachusetts Battleship
sleepover in March. Thanks to everyone who signed up, you have already made
this the biggest sleepover ever!
Popcorn Sale
We conduct one fundraising event per year, a Popcorn Sale. Popcorn comes
in both pre-popped, flavored snacks in decorative containers as well as
microwave popcorn. We ask that every boy participate in the fundraiser and
sell at least ten (10) items. Boys will be able to earn prizes for selling
popcorn beginning with $60 in sales. If every boy sells ten (10)
items, this will be the only fundraiser we need to do this year!
Please encourage your family and friends to support your son’s Scouting
experience.
Tigerama
All Tiger Cub Scouts are invited to an afternoon of fun, games, contests
and maybe a real live tiger! Tigerama will be held on Sunday, October
26th at 1:00PM at St. Thomas the Apostle School, 24 Westminster
Rd, West Hempstead. The cost is $5.00, which includes a craft and a snack.
Come meet Tiger Scouts from all over Nassau County!
Finally, we have received many calls offering ideas. Please consider
joining us at our monthly planning meetings. We will meet next on Tuesday,
October 14th at 7:30pm. We meet in the School #3 cafeteria and we
could really use your help. If you want to talk, feel free to call either of
us at any time.
