Newsletter of Cub Scout Pack 204 (September, 2003)
|
Welcome to another year of fun and activity with Cub Scout Pack 204! We are very glad you have decided to join us and promise to make this year bigger and better than ever. We are using this newsletter format to improve our communication with you, the parents of our Cub Scouts. We want to ensure that you all are kept informed of our activities, our needs and your concerns during the year. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, concerns or especially ideas you may have throughout the year. |
We Need You! Yes, you! We see you hiding behind this newsletter, and we really do need your help to have a successful year in scouting. Most of the things we need are really small and won’t hurt a bit (well not much at least), but without your assistance, we won’t be half as successful.
1) Be involved in your son’s Cub Scouting experience. Know what awards
he is working on. Read his book and see what activities he already
participates in and could earn an award for; does he play baseball,
basketball or golf, is he on an academic team, does he love science, is he a
computer nut?? All of these activities have awards that your son can earn,
but only if you know they exist!
2) Come to Pack meetings and participate in the activities, be they
silly songs, or awards nights. Your son will enjoy the fact that you are
interested in his organization. Please however, confine your conversations
to outside the auditorium and give your attention to the program being
presented.
3) Take a risk and come on a trip. We will have two different sleep-over
trips this year, and numerous day trips. Come with your son and enjoy the
great outdoors, you might even find that you like it!
4) Volunteer, just a little. We will take care of the program planning,
but we always need you to help keep the boys in control, pick up after a
messy party in the gym, and drive to various activities. We have almost 100
boys in the Pack now, if every family volunteered just one hour a month,
imagine what we could accomplish! (Sure you can, I know, we’re all busy, =).
We would like to use Pack 204 to make a difference in the community at
large, but this will only become a reality with the help of all of you.
Thanks in advance for your help this year in producing an outstanding
program for your son.
